Hartville Golf Carts Case Study: From a Thanksgiving Launch to 98,000 Users a Year, a Small Ad Budget and a Rebuilt Sales Process
A golf cart startup opened on a brand new domain with zero rankings. Three years later it serves 98,000 users a year and ranks for more than 9,000 keywords. Then smarter campaigns brought in more of the right buyers, and a standardized sales process helps the team turn more of them into customers.

Hartville Golf Carts
Starting problemA new domain in November 2022. No rankings, no reviews, no history. Golf carts had become everyday transportation, buyers were searching and comparing makes, and they needed a dealer that could answer them.
DiagnosisA shed buyer reads. A golf cart buyer looks. The site had to sell on sight, with photos first, then the facts, then a fast path to a person. On the ads side, basic Google smart campaigns produced lots of clicks and impressions and not many real buyers, and what happened after a lead arrived depended on who picked up the phone.
What we changedBuilt the site around imagery: photo-first inventory, product pages that open on a full-width carousel, a make page for every brand and a model page for every cart, financing on every card. Rebuilt the advertising from the ground up, rebuilt the CRM to automate follow-up on every inquiry, and replaced everyone-does-it-their-own-way with one structured, teachable sales process the team trains on every week.

What it meant for the business
A dealership that started as a side bet became one of the fastest growing golf cart dealers in the country. Search brings the buyers, the site sells the carts, one of the most efficient ad accounts in our portfolio brings in the right ones, and the sales team works from one shared process with visible numbers instead of individual habits.
The build
Golf carts sell on sight.
The homepage gets to the point. A phone number for every showroom in the top bar, a link straight to in-stock inventory, and a banner that says what the dealership is, where it is and that it ships nationwide. The in-stock collection gives shoppers three views, a photo grid, a list and a simple view for fast comparison, and every card carries the suggested MSRP, year, make, model, color, seating and four actions.
Product pages open with a carousel of three photos per slide across the full width of the screen. It was a risky call across so many phones and tablets, and it paid off: shoppers interact with the carts more and more of them move on to a quote.
Every brand on the lot gets a make page and every model gets its own landing page, built from the manufacturer's real specs. They rank fast. More than once a new model page hit page one of Google within hours of going up. The template is cloned from one master page, which is how 29 new model pages shipped in a single batch.
Make and model landing pages for 18 brands.
A no-impact prequalify band and a Get Financing button on every cart.
Copy written for Medina, Cleveland, Akron and Canton shoppers, with nationwide delivery for everyone else.
Search results
From zero to 98,000 users a year.
The site launched with 8 ranking keywords. It passed 1,000 within a year and peaked at 14,292 in February 2026, with 218 in Google's top three. In 2025 it served 98,000 users, up 91.8%, who viewed 266,000 pages. Google Search Console shows 98.2K clicks and 13.1M impressions from June 2025 to October 2026.
The How Much Does A Golf Cart Cost article alone has drawn 10,516 sessions since launch. AI assistants have cited the site 18,266 times. Nobody hands over $12,000 on an AI's word, though. On a high-ticket purchase, buyers still go to the dealer's website to check the inventory, the showrooms and the people, and that is where this site wins.
Paid results
A small ad budget, a rebuilt sales process.
Hartville was running basic Google smart campaigns that produced low-end results: lots of clicks and impressions, not many real buyers. We rebuilt their advertising from the ground up. Across Hartville and its sister dealership, Mentor, the combination that has worked best is a Performance Max campaign running most of the budget alongside a tightly structured search campaign built on a focused keyword list.
Then we turned to what happens after the lead arrives. We rebuilt their CRM to automate the sales process and the follow-up on every inquiry, and added tracking and reporting so fewer customers are lost to slow or missed follow-up. We replaced "everyone does it their own way" with a structured, teachable, repeatable sales process, and every week we train the sales team on their numbers, find where each person is weakest, and work on it, so the dealership can sell more with the same number of leads and give customers a better experience.
On roughly $95 a day in total ad spend, the campaigns are producing about 110 tracked conversions a month, phone calls and lead actions, at around $26 each. The ad account is now one of the most efficient in our portfolio, on a budget that is modest for a dealership this size. A larger tracking overhaul is coming that will let us follow leads all the way through showroom visits and sales, so we can show exactly what each ad dollar returns.
