Hartville Outdoor Products
Starting problemIn 2019 the dealer showed its buildings on a small display lot across West Maple Street. A ring of sheds on mostly empty ground. The catalog was enormous, with dozens of shed styles, garages, cabins, tiny homes and thousands of furniture pieces, and none of it showed a price.
DiagnosisEvery ecommerce SEO playbook assumes a price, a cart and a checkout. A shed dealer quotes, finances, configures and delivers. The site had to rank and sell without the one thing search rewards most, so it had to win on everything else.
What we changedRebuilt the site around the catalog. A mega menu with seven ways to shop. Category pages built as full landing pages. Product pages that open with stock status, lot number and tag number. Real photos, walkthrough videos, a copy system with one focus keyphrase per page, and 448 blog posts that answer the questions buyers ask before they buy.

Grew big enough to launch a second company, Hartville Golf Carts, on the same system

What it meant for the business
A dealer that cannot show prices online now fills a sales lot from search. The website became the front door for a family business, and the same system went on to launch two more dealerships.
Where it started
We came in for support. We stayed six years.
In September 2019 we took over the Hartville Outdoor Products account alongside support for its sister company, Kids World Play Systems. The new site launched in February 2020, weeks before COVID. When backyards became the most important room in the house, the site was ready for the shoppers, and the leads came in fast.
Open Google Earth, search 1147 W Maple St, Hartville, Ohio, and turn on historical imagery. Scroll back six years, then forward. The land south of the road goes from a curved row of display sheds to rows of buildings a few football fields deep, with an outdoor furniture showroom across the street. It grew so big the owner bought golf carts to drive summer shoppers around the lot, then decided to sell those too.
The build
A website shaped like the lot.
A dealer with hundreds of buildings on the ground needs a website that lets buyers walk the lot from the couch. Most shed dealers bury inventory behind one Buildings link. This site lets buyers shop the way they think: by what is in stock, by series, by material, by style, by roof type, by amenities and by size. A buyer who already knows they want a 12 by 16 barn with a porch gets there in two clicks.
Category pages are full landing pages. Wooden Storage Sheds opens with every wooden building in a grid with stock status, then a walkthrough video, a gallery, a financing band and copy on how the sheds are built. That gives a broad search like wooden storage sheds for sale a page that can rank and sell at the same time.
Every product page opens with the facts a lot buyer needs: stock status, lot number and tag number, so they can walk straight to the building in person. Financing and quote buttons sit where buyers decide, not just at the bottom.
Seven ways to shop from one menu, from In Stock Storage Sheds to popular sizes.
Lot number and tag number in the first screen of every in-stock building.
Buying resources up front: shed buying guide, size charts, delivery options and site preparation.
The results
Twenty-one times the organic traffic.
When the full SEO campaign started in August 2021, Semrush estimated about 975 organic visits a month. By April 2025 it estimated 20,894, worth about $13,800 a month in equivalent ad spend. Ranking keywords grew from 983 to a peak of 22,047, and top-three positions grew from 25 to 467.
Google Search Console recorded 93.1K clicks and 10.8M impressions from June 2025 to October 2026. In Google Analytics 4, the In Stock Storage Sheds page alone drew 38K views last calendar year, up 93.5%, and organic search brought 139K sessions.
The blog is the biggest we run, 448 posts answering questions like how to build a shed roof or how to vent a storage shed. AI assistants have cited the site 21,330 times, because the answers are already written.
The honest part
Not every year goes up.
Search is not a straight line. Keyword counts eased after the November 2024 peak as Google re-evaluated product and category pages across the whole shed category. What held was the foundation: hundreds of pages that still rank, a blog that still earns citations, and a lot that is still full. Six years in, the partnership is the real result.
